Layaway

Layaway List

Lists all layaway transactions. Use this screen to browse, filter by customer, store, or status, and open individual Layaway records. The list provides a real-time overview of all active and historical layaways with calculated balance columns. Access from Sales › Layaway List.

Filters

Filter

Quick-search the displayed list. Type text to instantly filter rows by matching against the selected column. Use the in dropdown to choose which column to search, and the by dropdown to switch between Starts With, Contains, or Exact Match.

Tip: If you do not see the column you want to search or view, go to File → Configure to customize which columns are displayed in the list. You can add, remove, and reorder columns to suit your workflow.

Sort Column & Method

Choose the column used to sort the list. The dropdown displays all columns you have chosen to view, including any custom column changes you have made. Use the second dropdown to switch between Ascending and Descending order.

Auto Size Columns

When checked, columns automatically resize to fit their contents each time the list refreshes. This ensures all data is visible without manual adjustment.

When unchecked, column widths are saved between sessions. You can drag column borders to set your preferred widths and they will be remembered the next time you open this screen. This is useful when you want a consistent layout regardless of the data displayed.

Customer

Filter layaways by customer. Shows only layaways for the selected customer.

Store

Filter layaways by store. Shows only layaways held at the selected store.

Status

Filter by layaway status:

All — Shows all layaways regardless of status.
Active — In-progress layaways accepting payments.
Paid in Full — Fully paid, awaiting pickup.
Picked Up — Merchandise delivered to customer.
Cancelled — Cancelled layaways.
Expired — Past due date without full payment.
Defaulted — Customer defaulted.

Columns

Number — Layaway number.
Customer — Customer name (looked up from the linked customer record).
Start Date — The date the layaway was created.
Due Date — The final payment deadline.
Original Amt — The merchandise total from the linked sales order.
Fees — Setup and extension fees charged.
Interest — Total interest charged (calculated from layaway_change type 6 entries).
Paid — Total payments received (calculated from layaway_change type 1 entries).
Balance — Remaining balance: Original + Fees + Interest − Paid.
Status — Current status text (Active, Paid in Full, etc.).

The Interest, Paid, and Balance columns are live-calculated from the database journal, so they always reflect the current state.

Actions

New — Opens a blank Layaway Master. Note: layaways are typically created automatically from sales orders with a Layaway order type, but can also be created manually.
Edit — Opens the selected layaway for viewing/editing. Double-click a row to edit.
Delete — Deletes the selected layaway (only if no payments exist).
Print — Prints the current list view.
Close — Closes the list window.
